comp iv shows its face

Comp IV finally made it’s debut last week into the northeastern region of the world with only a few details overlooked by our wonderful manufacturing company. It seems that in the blizzard mix-up, they left a few units off the order sheet and forgot about our posters as well. They’re working to correct those mistakes, and we’ll be sending stuff out in the meantime.

So it’s time to get on the horn and really do the grunt work to distribute them. The tracks should be making their way into online stores come next month. We’ll be sending out digital downloads and one sheets to spread the word, and we suggest that everyone do the same. Know a friend at the local college radio station? Pass them a disc. Everyone should keep in mind that we are a “collective” and the bulk of the collective’s man power comes from it’s participants. Not just Randy, Emily, and myself. Feel free to email anyone of us to let us know how you plan on helping get it out there!

Hiccup for Vol. IV/Review for Vol. III

I’ve got some bad news for some of you.  It looks highly doubtful that we’re going to get Volume IV in time for the release shows in Austin and OKC this weekend.  In fact, it appears as though it will arrive in Brooklyn just barely in time for their release show the following week.  The northeastern blizzard set back production time and shipping of our compilation, a weather calamity we did not factor in to our time frame.

The way we’re going to salvage this problem in Austin is by handing out Volume III.  Volume III just received a kind review from an OKC dweller, in which he promotes the release shows this weekend.  Then, if artists want to participate, later down the road we can have a show where we hand out free copies of Volume IV. It won’t be a release show per say, but it will go through the same motions.   I recommend all of you do the same.  As far as the rest of you artists participating in the compilation, you’ll have your copies within a month, for sure.  If you have any last minute requests as far as where you’d like me to ship your portion of the compilations and posters, send them my way at emily (at) 8088records (dot) com by next Friday, February 26th.

If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up.  I’m sorry about the northeastern blizzard getting in the way of our finely worked plans, but we’re going to get the compilations to you as soon as we can.

Almost done with Compilation IV

We’re finalizing the artwork for the compilation and finishing up the last bit of mastering.  Before long, the finished Vol. IV will be sitting on my doorstep (and then yours).  Once we have the graphic design ready, we’ll post it so you can get an idea of what the discs, jacket cover, and 8088 Collective poster will look like.

Is anyone else amused by our binary code dates so far this year? 01.01.10/01.10.10/01.11.10…sadly, i’ll have to wait until October to be this delighted with the numerical calendar.  i hear if you string them all together, you can read a message from the devil.  Just saying.
